“The Lost Bird Project” Lecture

October 25, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Hear artist Todd McGrain, creator of “The Lost Bird Project,” discuss his work during this free public lecture at the Florida Museum. McGrain sculpted the 4- to 6-foot cast-bronze statues of the extinct Carolina Parakeet, Great Auk, Heath Hen, Labrador Duck and Passenger Pigeon as a tribute to endangered and extinct species.

• 6:30 p.m.-Lecture by Todd McGrain

McGrain created statues of five extinct North American avian species that were permanently placed where each bird was last seen in the wild. The locations range from Fogo Island, Newfoundland, to Okeechobee, Florida, with a traveling exhibit of the same figures touring nationally. The Florida Museum will display the figures in front of Powell Hall for a year beginning Nov. 1.

The Museum gratefully acknowledges the generous support of exhibit sponsor SFI.
