I have modified our trip to Eastern Oregon to focus on searching for ammonites. Time will prevent us from visiting the obvious places in the national monument but on this trip I want to be more “hands on.” . We’ll stay at Delintment Lake and hunt wherever we can in the general vicinity.  We’ll spend more time checking out the area between Suplee and Izee where we hope to become familiar with rock formations unique to the region, and to look for fossils and minerals where we can.

I am really sorry that more posts aren’t made to this site.  It’s a great resource and I hope we can stimulate more interest in this forum!

I found this in the area just beyond where your car was parked, my son picked up a random big rock and I split it and he made a comment about how cool it would be if there was a big fossil inside and. Whoop there it was.

Trying to get info on it, had to alter pic so it could be posted.
