6 years, 3 months ago6 years, 3 months agoHello all, I thought I’d written an introduction already, but it didn’t post, so here it is again.
I teach High School biology in Woodburn, Oregon. I received my undergrad degree from Brigham Young University and my Masters from Oregon State University. My original focus was history teaching with a biology minor, but I was hired as a biology tea…[Read more]

Thanks for sharing Dave! Your field and classroom experience will be a great asset to the group. Evolution and comparative anatomy are very interesting, but, like you said, I am interested in providing other lesson ideas for your classroom! I think that this opportunity to work with a Miocene deposit will provide new comparative information, but…[Read more]

7 years ago7 years agoHey Victor, I had some students upload a bunch of pictures to the database. However, looking at some there are some mistakes or changes that need to be made. Is it possible to put all these in a separate group and in the public database, and then give me the ability to go through and make the corrections?
-
Unfortunately, I don’t think so. I can think of two possible solutions. You could post comments on students fossils, so they can make the corrections. The other option would require you to get the login info for each of your students and make edits within their accounts.
-
Also, I see a couple fossils in the gallery that don’t have a ‘featured photo’. If they go into images, there should be a button that says “Feature Image”, which will make the image appear in the fossil gallery list.

Hi, @dellingson – You can update the higher order classification following the PBDB: https://paleobiodb.org/classic/basicTaxonInfo?taxon_no=44957
Do you remember what formation this specimen came from? I like to use Macrostrat to figure out the geologic context of different areas: https://macrostrat.org/map/#/z=11.2/x=-122.8313/y=45.1391/bedrock/lines/

7 years ago7 years agoThat would be great to create a group. One issue I’m having, is I’m having students put fossils into the database, but they are not showing up when we submit them. There should be about 15, but there are only 2. We will keep trying though.
-
@vperez can you help with David’s issue adding fossils?
-
Did you make sure they are marked as public rather than private? @dellingson
If there is some kind of error message, you should use the Send Feedback button in the bottom right corner.
