Sometimes they use teeth that are so badly damaged on the back side that it’s only about half of a tooth.

Due to the difference in locality, I’m not able to say for 100% certain though…

I would lean more towards modern, than fossil.
…but it’s still a really interesting piece!

Mostly due to the layered appearance of the (possibly broken) edge.
It’s still a fossil, and therefore still cool though!

I would lean towards bryzoan or sponge.
…but invertebrates are my weakest link in identification, so I may be wrong.
