Description

I found this crystalized specimen inside a shale cliff-face alongside a creek. The specimen is a tubular construction approximately 4 inches long and 1 inch wide encased in a shale/limestone substratum. This was found in the Waynesville/Arnheim formation in Southwestern Ohio. Due to the shape, I can infer that it may either be a cephalopod fragment or a water outlet tube mold for the shale/limestone stratum it was a part of. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Keep digging and keep learning, friends! #fossil
