It could be a trace fossil, or just erosion. It’s hard to tell, do you know the age of the rock you found it in?
I found it while hiking in the Catskills & Wikipedia says this: “The Catskill is the largest bedrock unit of the Upper Devonian in northeast Pennsylvania and the Catskill region of New York, from which its name is derived. The Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania are largely underlain by this unit as well. The rocks of the Catskill are predominantly red sandstone indicating a large scale terrestrial deposition during the Acadian orogeny. Many beds are cyclical in nature, preserving the record of a dynamic environment during its approximately 20 million years of deposition.” Although I completely recognize Wikipedia is probably not the most reliable source lol
Did it say how old the rocks are?
Well I think Wikipedia is saying around 20 million years old. However, I don’t know for sure how old the rock is.
It’s saying that the rocks were deposited for 20 million years, so I’m still not sure about the age
☹️ I’m not sure..How can I find out?
