I found this today in Southeast Texas on a Colorado River bank…I’m not sure what it is.  I think it’s a tooth. Can anyone tell me what it is, what it belongs to, and how old it might be? Thanks for any help.

    • That certainly looks like a tooth, with the root and shiny enamel on the crown. Its also very large, which is exciting. This is an incredible find that I would show to the Houston Museum of Natural Science for their opinion.

    • Does anyone know what kind of bear this might have come from? It compares in size and appearance to a giant short face bear tooth that was found in SC this year by a diver that I saw online.

    • Just throwing it out there. Saber Tooth Cat of some age as in teen to adulthood?

    • That would be pretty cool if it were a saber tooth cat, but the short face bear tooth seems more similar in size and shape. It’s a 3 inch tooth and I’d love for it to be any one of those two…but I wish I could get a definite ID on this cause I’m real curious to know. The images I’ve seen online and from what I’ve read the short face bear was once in this area pulls me slightly in that direction. But thank you for the suggestion …I am open to all ideas.
