Scientists have discovered the remains of a giant sea creature that lived in Britain 180 million years ago and is the largest and most complete fossil of this species found in Britain.
“This discovery is truly unprecedented and one of the greatest discoveries in the history of British paleontology,” said Dean Lomex, a paleontologist and visiting professor at the University of Manchester.
The newly discovered fossil belongs to a large species of ichthyosaur called the trigonodon temododontosaurus.
