I would say it depends on how you found it. If you found it on the ground surface, it could have been transported there through many ways: broke off an outcrop and rolled down hill, broke off and was transported by a creek or river, or it was transported there by humans. In those cases, we don’t know exactly where it came from. If you don’t know where the rock originated from, we can’t really date it. Macrostrat (https://macrostrat.org/map/#/z=11.6/x=-97.8231/y=30.2808/bedrock/lines/) is a good resource to see what the bedrock has generally been mapped to. It is useful if you are certain the rock came from the mapped bedrock. If it is a surface find, we can’t really know for sure.
Good to know, thank you Patrick! I found it on a ground surface. Any idea what creatures these are?
They are all marine invertebrates, I see a bivalve shell and some turritella Gastropods
thank you! @a-trilobite
