An open seminar organized by the Interagency Forum on Informal Stem Education
The seminar will begin with a brief overview of issues by Dr. Robert L. Russell, Program Director, Education Directorate, National Science Foundation. Tyson Brown of NSTA and Margaret Glass of the Association of Science-Technology Centers will introduce the journal. Dennis Schatz, Field Editor of the journal, will discuss effective examples drawn from the journal of informal/formal STEM collaboration as a context for discussing current directions, research questions and future directions.
An informal social hour will be held at a nearby establishment immediately after the seminar.
Connected Science Learning is a journal that highlights STEM education experiences that bridge the gap between in-school and out-of-school settings. The online journal features downloadable articles about highly effective programs and shares research that connects preK–12 STEM learning in schools and out-of-school settings, specifically highlighting effective mechanisms for collaboration and co-creation. The journal is supported with funding from the National Science Foundation and is a collaboration of NSTA and the Association of Science Technology Centers.
