@theadocia-ginder The rocks in your area are from the Bond Formation of the McLeansboro Group which dates back around 307-303 million years ago (Kasimovian stage of the Pennsylvanian subperiod of the Carboniferous era), long before there were dinosaurs! It also represents a marine environment. It looks like there may be some worn fossils on this slab, possibly from crinoid stems (AKA sea lillies!)
