Cameron Harper has contributed specimen mFeM 134241 to myFOSSIL!

    • @cameron-harper do we have more specific location information? In order for a post to be research grade, a post must have clear pictures with a scale from different angles (you’ve got that), Classification (I’ve helped with), location as specific as possible (preferably to nearest town), geochronology, and lithostratigraphy (which I can often help with using Rockd, a geologic map).

    • @mason-hintermeister I am still trying to find my specific photo records that indicate which of two specific locations this fossil is from. It is either from Purse State Park in Nanjemoy, Maryland (which would be the Aquia Formation), or in the surface shellbeds of Holden Beach, North Carolina. Would the other characteristics of the tooth eliminate one of these two sites?

    • @cameron-harper Holden Beach is much more likely for this tooth! By the way, myFOSSIL automatically generates labels for you so that location will always be attached, you can go to your “Specimens” page on your profile for that.

    • @mason-hintermeister Great, thanks! I am using myFOSSIL in part to keep these labels attached for the future – many of these were found during my childhood, and while my records have always been thorough, my storage of said records were kept in multiple places and I have yet to combine all records to easily confirm individual items. Any other unlocated specimens of mine came from Holden Beach, NC or Purse State Park, MD, as I have never collected elsewhere before this year.

    • @cameron-harper no worries some sections of my collection could use some work as well, just letting you know about some of our cool functionalities! Thanks for your contributions to our database!
