1 year, 3 months ago1 year, 3 months agoNice purple crystals with a larger mineral in the good cavity. Any chance of this being a geodized Crinoid body part or other fossil? It was found among heavy Crinoid material. #fossil
Lovely geode! Not a fossil but a lovely geological specimen.
Quartz and pyrite geode ( known as fools gold geode) as the quartz looks like calcite and pyrite is fools gold. It formed from a big cavity inside it decaying the inside forming crystals
Geode
Thank you @mason-hintermeister and @tracey-burroughs
@mason-hintermeister What is your guess as to the external surface pattern of this geode? Any thoughts? I always appreciate your insights on these specimens.
Here is a link to a discussion about a specimen very similar to yours specimen – Geodized fossil of crinoid calyx vs geode. Beautiful find whatever it turns out to be.
