@bill-heim alopias? Unsure about the cusplet/bump on the one side
Early Alopias often had cusplets
@bill-heim @mason-hintermeister would this species be present at both Holden Beach NC and Edisto Beach SC? I am trying to recover a corrupted hard drive with my photos/notes but if one of those locations is ruled out I can provide the exact location. This tooth was found this summer, and I only collected from those two beaches. Thanks for the patience with the pending data, I lost 256gb of ID photos for my fossils, birds, and bugs…frustrating!
It could be. Problem is that beach fossils on the coast can often contain material from different ages washed down by rivers.
@cameron-harper I agree this is likely an alopiid but wouldn’t be so sure on the species, unfortunately this is a fairly long lived group and both those beaches are pretty mixed-up stratigraphy-wise so I don’t think it would solve your locality problem, sorry!!
