Timothy Adams has contributed specimen mFeM 145590 to myFOSSIL!

    • Where was this found?

    • Ladonia Fossil Park

    • That area has Cretaceous and Pleistocene deposits, you can find fossils of plesiosaurs, mosasaurs, and more. I can’t say for sure what that jaw belongs to, but it’s an awesome find worth finding more about. You could compare it to other fossils found in the area or ask a local expert.

    • Thanks! I’m so happy with it and will try to do a bit of preparation with it and then put it in a glass case with a plaque when I figure out what it is

    • It already looks great, I wouldn’t risk trying to prepare it unless you’re sure it won’t damage it

    • The teeth signal Xiphactinus. But that’s only comparing existing fossils to this one

    • I will look into it and see what images I can find to compare. If it helps this is only about 2.5 inches long so it will need to be a small fish I think

    • Nice fish! I will contact some experts to see if an ID is possible.

    • Thanks! I’ll also try to find a paleontologist near me

    • I’d say that things jaw dropped…
