    Hey @vperez@smoran@michelle-barboza@imagallanes and @michael-ziegler,

Just a quick recap on today’s meeting regarding Ghost Ranch (GR) so everyone is in the loop:

    Expectations for students prior/during GR:

    1. Complete scientist survey provided by professional evaluator
    2. Design and give hiking tours at GR
    3. Help where Claudia, Gary Morgan and I may need you during the week.

While at GR in July, the Geology grad students (or those with degrees in geology) will be in charge of selecting, designing and giving hiking tours at GR, highlighting the local geology, stratigraphy, super position, local fossils, etc. Bruce gave a good outline about how to approach the project:

    1. Approach this assignment with your field camp experience
      1. How would you craft your talk to novice geologists?
    2. Figure out the trails at GR (Google: Ghost Ranch Trails)
      1. Look at the map provided and decide which trails you will take the groups on.
      2. What is the geologic importance found on these trails (ex: Triassic–>Cretaceous, Chinle Formation, Coelophysis Quarry)
    3. What information do you want to provide your hikers while on the tour?

There are approx 40 people going to GR and they will all be taking your tours.  People can be broken up into groups; you will select how those groups will be created, but everyone should have the opportunity to see all of the trails chosen.

The hikes will occur on Monday (7/17/17) and Wednesday (7/19/17) from 9:30-11:30 am.

    Resources to google:

    1. Ghost Ranch Geology
    2. Ghost Ranch Hiking Trails
    3. Dept of Geoscience at Virginia Tech (VT)
      1. Contact students working with Sterling Nesbitt at VT, they are spending the summer at GR doing research
      2. Expand network and explain our trip out there. They may be interested in joining in on the hikes and providing more info
    4. Georgia O’Keefe has a historical presence at GR, please include in your tours.

For those that attended the meeting today, please add on anything that I may have missed!

    @bmacfadden and @cgrant

We are looking forward to the tours!
