“The speaker at our September 8, 2017 meeting will be Dr. Don Mikulic, Senior Paleontologist with the Illinois State Geological Survey. The title of his program is “Calymene blumenbachii and the Discovery of Trilobites”. The program is based on a chapter in “Fantastic Fossils – 300 years of worldwide research on trilobites”, New York State Museum Bulletin 507. This book is available for download
on ResearchGate under the account of Ed Landing. Account on ReasearchGate are free. ”
I tried to do a little trilobite collecting this spring at U-dig Fossils Delta, UT but didn’t find much. It was interesting however as there were a lot of baby trilobites. http://www.u-digfossils.com/ However other people found some really great specimens so I just had bad luck. I’d love to go back. Advice: that shale is hard so you want some heavy hammers and good chisels.
Where else can I look for trilobites? I have heard that some good specimens are found in Ohio. Anyone check that out?
