Activity

This specimen was collected from a quarry in Brechin, Ontario on a subplanar, dimpled hardground surface with local mounds. This is one of 5 individuals buried beneath a single thin veneer of clay shale, all roughly the same size and state of preservation, within a two-square meter plot. This occurrence is laterally continuous with the famous Kopf hardground of Brett and Liddell (1978), 9 km away, and this edrioasteroid is a member of a very diverse (over 120 species) mixed hard- and soft-substrate community which juxtaposes contemporaneous taxa with markedly distinct modes of life. Echinoderms in this community comprise at least eight classes.
