Hi there! Do you see any teeth or sockets on the fossil? That might help to figure out what it is. Also, do you think you can get a photo of the other side? The ventral (bottom) side of gar jaws are rough but the sides are more laminar and smooth. It may also be there is not enough to tell since it looks like a small and fairly weathered piece. FLMNH’s vert paleo database has images to compare fossils with at http://www.floridamuseum.ufl.edu/vertpaleo-search/ but if you upload some other angles I can give it my best shot.
How do I upload more pics?
Hmm, for some reason this question is only viewable online and not the app. I’ll notify management about that. But it looks like you figured it out. I’ll take a look at the pictures.
Done!

Hmm, I don’t really know what it is. Because it is round and the sides are not smooth I do think it’s a good idea to be skeptical of gar jaw until you can get another opinion.
I agree, even though it is porous it is highly smooth even slippery. Coud osteoderm fit? Any ideas of who might help? I found it next to a bunch of gar sacales.
I just spoke to Dr. Richard Hulbert, our collections manager, and he said it’s unidentifiable.
Thanks MacKenzie appreciate the effort!
