4 years, 9 months ago4 years, 9 months agoWhile attending the North American Paleontological Convention (June 22-27, 2019) in Riverside, CA, I snuck off for a day at the La Brea Tar Pits & Museum. It was awesome to take my time going through the museum and exploring all over the site itself (instead of being rushed through on a quick tour). I was able to ask a bunch of geeky taphonomy questions of museum staff, too 🙂 Here are a few pics from my trip!Picture captions:

- I was psyched to see that my avian paleontology hero, Hildegarde Howard, was highlighted at the front of the museum!
- the La Brea Tar Pits Museum prep lab still uses the same 1960s lamps that we have at the KU NHM 😛
