While attending the North American Paleontological Convention (June 22-27, 2019) in Riverside, CA, I snuck off for a day at the La Brea Tar Pits & Museum. It was awesome to take my time going through the museum and exploring all over the site itself (instead of being rushed through on a quick tour). I was able to ask a bunch of geeky taphonomy questions of museum staff, too 🙂  Here are a few pics from my trip!Picture captions:

    2. I was psyched to see that my avian paleontology hero, Hildegarde Howard, was highlighted at the front of the museum!
    3. the La Brea Tar Pits Museum prep lab still uses the same 1960s lamps that we have at the KU NHM 😛
