4 years, 8 months ago4 years, 8 months agoGood afternoon, so I was down at the creek near my house with today and found this. It was in the water. it’s completely fossilised. I don’t know what it is or if it’s a modern animal or something a bit older?
Where in Deepdale, Geraldton, Western Australia and we found it in the Chapman River. I’ve had a good look at some books I have and it doesn’t look like it’s a Cow ,sheep , kangaroo. If you could help that would be amazing
This actually looks like the back of a skull of perhaps a mammal but it’s hard to tell. It’s definitely very very cool!
@elizabeth-jenkin – is there a local university or museum you could reach out to? Usually they have better resources on the local fauna. Unfortunately, I think our member-base is lacking in Australian experts (for now!).
Thank you so much I’ll take it to the museum and see what they say
@elizabeth-jenkins This seems like one of closest museums to you http://www.samuseum.sa.gov.au/research/palaeontology/fossils
I’m really curious if it is the back of a kangaroo skull
It might be, i’ll keep you up-to-date thank you for your help
