    • If you click on the Geochronology items, you can narrow it down to a least Miocene. If you like I can do it for you. Traditionally this has been called N. primigenus but as it is virtually identical to the modern species, I would say either species designation is acceptable (I would lean towards what you put down).

      • Sorry, on my phone the webpage loads with only the formation boxes in frame so sometimes I forget to put in the time period. I’ll fix that. Since it was found in float material, I don’t know which zone it was part of, and I understand the Calvert FM spans through a few stages (3 if memory serves), so I’ll keep it at Miocene. As for species designation, I know there is some debate there. I’ve no opinion on the subject, I just typically put N. cepedianus on my labels, but I put I. desori instead of I. oxyrinchus on my Mako teeth. Just what I happen to use.

        • There is the Calvert, Choptank and Saint Mary’s Formations going south respectively. This is at the northern end which is strictly Calvert formation. Occasionally, a tooth from the underlying formations will wash up. I have some Eocene float that I have found there (surprisingly in good shape). Members of the Calvert formation are the Plum Point Marls Member, Calvert Beach Member and the Zone-1 Fairhaven Member (at Pope’s Creek and the very bottom at Chesapeake Beach). As it was float I would leave the member off.
