This part of the formation is a conglomerate. It takes a lot of energy to move large rocks so we know that it took a lot of depositional energy to form this unit.
Generally speaking we rarely find fossils in the conglomerate layers because they get crushed by wave action/transportation.
cool…I was amazed at the density… insanely hard. was energy due to volcanism or glacial?
@adam-frey I don’t know about this formation in particular but it can be from heavy wave action (think certain rocky beaches) or from elevation (large rocks falling down a mountain after a desert flash flood or bottom of a marine canyon).
