So jealous, @Matthew-Gramling – there’s nothing Paleozoic down here in Florida.
Which brach are you referring to – I’m assuming it’s the one that looks like an internal mold?
Hi @samantha-ocon! I’m pretty excited about “plunging the Paleozoic” since all of my prior experience was with Cretaceous and post Cretaceous strata. I grew up in NW GA and had no idea there were fossils practically in my backyard. If you are ever on your way up to Chattanooga there are a number of places with Paleozoic collecting sites. Just south of the state line in Wildwood there are a number of Ordovician outcrops. I haven’t explored them yet, but the photos look promising. And yes, that would be the brachiopod. I just upload a cropped photo with it front and center.
The Armuchee Ridges are also known to have a number of collecting spots along roadside cuts.
