Is this a fossil egg? Found in Texas…hill country east…not positive…I’ve had it for several years #fossil

    • Hi @jen-mashburn! This looks like a weathered conception or rock of some kind. There could be a fossil, but it’s difficult to tell from one photo. If you have the time to photograph the other sides it would help out a lot to determine if it’s a fossil or not.

    • I uploaded a bunch of photos into this but not sure how to show you where! ( newbie) there is a distinct outer “shell” and the inside portion is like it is molten…where the outer portion looks like it was porous like bone or eggshell.

    • Yay! Figured it out! Does that help?

    • Looks volcanic, a volcanic bomb perhaps.

      • I agree with @bill-heim. It does look somewhat volcanic, which would be weird since the majority of the Texas Hill Country is composed of sedimentary rock. Depending on where in the hill country you obtained it there is a possibility that it is a concretion of a carbonate rock, which occasionally contain fossils. So, you can probably rule out egg.
