Mariela Pajuelo has contributed specimen mFeM 67009 to myFOSSIL!
Hi, @mariela-pajuelo. Do you have any clearer photos? I can’t seem to make this out at all. You can add photos to a single specimen by navigating to the specimen page on a desktop: https://www.myfossil.org/dwc-specimen/67012 and clicking “View Media” under the single photo. I would add the other photo you uploaded to this specimen and delete the other entry afterwards. In regards to ID, @Jeanette-Pirlo or @Smoran might be able to help!
Thanks! Uploaded better photos now (I think…).
This looks like a sirenian tooth (manatee or dugong). When things go back to normal, you should definitely bring it by the collections for Richard to fully ID @mariela-pajuelo Great find!
I agree. It looks just like one I found years ago in a phosphate mine in Brewster, FL.
Uploaded better pics now (I think). Thanks!!
These are great photos! Thank you so much, @Mariela-Pajuelo! Could you update the classification to reflect @Jeanette-Pirlo‘s ID? It would be Kingdom -> Animalia, Phylum -> Chordata, Class -> Sirenia.
yup. once we get a 100% ID from Richard, you can do a full update i would think
For some reason I see messages accessing through my computer that I dont see when accessing through my phone… I just wanted to say thanks and I will definitely bring the tooth to the museum for full ID.
Hi, @mariela-pajuelo, can you detail the problem a little further? I’d be happy to pass it on to our developers.
