    Bone?

    • I do not see any characteristics that would indicate it is a bone. I don’t see anything like periosteum or osteoclasts or the typical things we see in bone structure. The overall morphology does not have the anatomical shape or details of a bone either other than it being long. It appears to be a concretion. Concretions can contain bone. They form around a nucleus which can be bone or almost anything organic or an organic product in origin. The nucleus becomes encased in sediment. Then over time through diagenesis the nucleus may fossilize. Sometimes the diagenetic conditions aren’t conducive to fossilization and you end up with nothing or a blob that has lost its distinguishing characteristics that would make it identifiable.
