I’m not really seeing the characteristic features of bone here, but the shape is supect, @Jeff-Alliaume.
@samantha-ocon could it be a part of a belemnite?
Yes, @Jeff-Alliaume! I will tag in @JBauer just in case.
@samantha-ocon Thank you 🙂
@Jeff-Alliaume – to improve the quality of this specimen for the eMuseum, would you be willing to work with me to figure out the age + rock layers that it came from? If so, using https://macrostrat.org/map/#/z=1.5/x=16/y=23/bedrock/lines/ will be very useful if you remember where you found this specimen!
@samantha-ocon yeah of course ! Thank you
@samantha-ocon i had already done some research this morning the rock layer was Gypsum classified Upper Triassic (Keuper) 227 to 200 Mio years. the data is from the geological institute site Luxemburg (Geographie.lu)
in the upper layer i could also find some gryphaea arcuata classified 208 to 135 Mio years of age
i will try macrostrat to see if the luxemburgish site is right 😉
