      I find a lot of cetacean vertebrae and most have the processes shorn like this one, but I really liked this sample as a teaching tool because of the accompanying cookie.

      Definitely a great teaching tool! Since this came from the spoil pile, are you confident that came from the Pungo River Formation or could it be from the Yorktown Formation? Just want to confirm before I mark it as research grade.

      I don’t usually like to say with certainty, but I found ecphora in this pile so I’m going with Miocene.
