Collected from Spiti river bed. Himachal. India. #fossil #collection_site
@samantha-ocon,please see the previous specimen in different angles.
I think, if it has at all any organic origin, it might be of diatomaceous in origin, I’ve seen fossiliferous limestone of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, almost showing same patterns and texture.
@samantha-ocon, the interesting fact is that the commonly known Habur stone can turn milk into curd!
I agree that this looks very similar to a fossiliferous limestone, @drsukhendu-mukhopadhyay. Do you know what geological unit this was found in? If not, https://macrostrat.org/map/#/z=1.5/x=16/y=23/bedrock/lines/ would be very useful! I am not sure, however, if we can keep it in the eMuseum as it is not a singular specimen, but rather a collection of multiple organisms. It is a very cool specimen and I do encourage you to learn more about it!
@samantha-ocon this tiny specimen was found in the Spiti river bed, Geological unit of that region appears same as of the ammonite specimen, i.e Tagling and Spiti formation and ranges from the lower to upper Jurassic period.
