Those are corals not sponges

Sponges have no true tissue and have hard protrusions known as spicules, which your fossils lack. Corals have soft tissue (but you wouldn’t be able to tell due to fossilization) and live in colonies but look like one large organism. You can also look up coral fossils on Google and see the similarities for yourself.
