Today I went back to Vignola sul Panaro for the first time after the lockdown.
A more detailed description of the site will be in the comments #collection_site

    • the site is a of Plio-Pleistocene origin and is situated in the Argille Azzurre Plioceniche formation (FAA). The sediment is composed by marled clays, partially silty or sandy; grey colored with no stratification (or very limited one) due to bioturbation. very abundant fossil record of Gastropod and lamellibranchs, rarely yield vertebrate remains

    • this site here is very rich, with fragmentary remains of Pliocene malacofauna counted in the thousend, the site is poorly recognized and was badly damaged by anthropic activity in 2018/9,resulting in the loss of 2/3 of the total digsite, always taking notes of where you find your fossils (down to the coordinates if possible) is key to recognize these wonderful sites and help preserve them for future generations to share our passion
