? Still don’t know what this is #fossil
Bone, as it has internal structure
Can you put some more pictures on
It looks from this angle like some kind of leg bone
Sorry you already have
Can you give some background on where you found it
Yes it’s a bone
It’s really eroded, it’s too eroded to tell what it came from.
I found it at bodega bay in Santa Rosa California it was washed up on shore a little bit but still in the water
I found it yesterday the first picture is where it was still wet and the last one was after it dried
Modern bone, not a fossil
To be fair it does look very modern
I was thinking that
But was wondering on the age and formation
It’s probably from a modern marine animal or it’s a very well preserved ice age/Pleistocene bone?
Did you find it on Santa Rosa island?
If it’s Santa Rosa island you have the possibility of it being a Colombian Pygmy mammoth bone as they are bright white like that
Santa Rosa Sonoma county its not an island I think that’s somewhere else
Yeah I don’t know anything about bones or fossils I only downloaded this app so someone could tell me what it is
Also the picture makes it look bigger then it is should I post a scale picture ?
modern bone
