3 years, 2 months ago3 years, 2 months agoWhat kind of shark is this tooth from. I found this last August and it’s still one of my largest and best preserved teeth from Lee On Solent. It will be from the mid Eocene (specifically 47 million years ago). I was looking the other day at teeth that had been found in the same beds and thought this would be striolatima macrota or hypotodus (p.s. please don’t crucify me for the spelling) 😊
@bill-heim it seems to have eroded chaps as there are black spots and I belief a little bit of a cusp on one side of the tip attached to the root.
Striatolamia macrota. They got really large in the Eocene.
