I found this on a bank of the Colorado River in Southeast Texas. I have no idea what it might be or belongs to. It measures about 8 inches in length. Can anyone tell me what it is and what it belonged to? I believe this area is the Beaumont formation. Thanks.
@leonardo-miranda “modern” is a relative term. Something can be thousands of years old and not be fossils. The minimum age to be considered a fossil is 10,000 years
@a-trilobite l know. in my description, I’m setting the “modern” border line at around 2000 years or so. which this bone certainly seems like it might be older than. I’d say it could easily be Pleistocene or slightly older.
It looks modern, my guess is it’s a leg bone from a cow or some kind of livestock
not sure if it’s very modern, looks like quite an old bone if not prehistoric. could easily have some thousands ir more years on it.

@leonardo-miranda I wouldn’t doubt if it’s middle or late Pleistocene but I wouldn’t go much further than that.
