myFOSSIL Website:
- needs to provide guidance on appropriate software, equipment and best practices for digital photography.
- myFOSSIL will have image-ingestion capabilities
- myFOSSIL image galleries should not take the form of the Fossil Forum. Images will need to be searchable, and tagged with appropriate contextual and metadata (e.g., age, lithostratigraphy, taxonomy, photographer, club). This will enable not only searching, but use by downstream users and applications.
- use Creative Commons for copyright protection.
- iDigBio and Encyclopedia of Life could potentially use images, just as they do with museum images.
