FOSSIL UPLOAD
First, make sure you have a myFOSSIL account, this is required to upload your fossil information. If you are interested in seeing if your fossil can be used for research purposes, please follow through the following steps. They walk you through the information needed and why it is helpful for other scientists to use it for research questions. Even if the information you have on your fossil is not enough to be used for research purposes it will still benefit the community through educational means and help others identify their fossils. Specimens that have sufficient information will be uploaded to iDigBio and GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility) for public accessibility.
If you have already gone through the stepwise process that explains each piece of data please click through to a summary tab where you can enter in your specimen data on a single page.

Wow! That’s incredible!!
That’s actually a fossil, and not a recently dead fish?
He would not have that many color if it was a fossil, sorry but that is not fossilized, cool find anyway
Amazing it it solid stone ?
I assure you this is not a recent fish, as far as the color .Maybe a first, . I would never make up any kind of story Obviously testing will be needed ,I’m very excited to have the fish authenticated. I have not been able to find another one like it. I should be hearing from Perot Museum soon.
Would definitely appreciate an update on this find as things move along.
I will update as soon as more info/test results, etc

extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. I am not saying that whether this is or is not a fossil at this point. Is the material it came out of rock, clay or dried up mud? What is the location? What is the geologic formation it came out of? What other plant or animal material is found in the matrix? Photos of the immediate…[Read more]
