FOSSIL UPLOAD
First, make sure you have a myFOSSIL account, this is required to upload your fossil information. If you are interested in seeing if your fossil can be used for research purposes, please follow through the following steps. They walk you through the information needed and why it is helpful for other scientists to use it for research questions. Even if the information you have on your fossil is not enough to be used for research purposes it will still benefit the community through educational means and help others identify their fossils. Specimens that have sufficient information will be uploaded to iDigBio and GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility) for public accessibility.

The problem with this specimen is that it is not originally from Purse Park as if is from a much later time period. Most likely it was dropped by a collector. The other less likely scenario is that it was washed down from well inland.
@bill-heim could this one have come from Holden Beach NC? It’s possible I put this one in the wrong location container when I found it as a child. I only ever hunted at those two spots, so it was found at one or the other.
Holden Beach would make sense. Purse Park does not.
@bill-heim I confirmed from old photos that this was from Holden. Any ideas?
Appears to be some predecessor to the bull shark. The location of the nutritive foramen fits for a dusky, but the shape does not. Not a full fledged modern example of a bull shark as the serrations are not complete moving towards the tip. This is unlike the modern species of either.
