FOSSIL UPLOAD
First, make sure you have a myFOSSIL account, this is required to upload your fossil information. If you are interested in seeing if your fossil can be used for research purposes, please follow through the following steps. They walk you through the information needed and why it is helpful for other scientists to use it for research questions. Even if the information you have on your fossil is not enough to be used for research purposes it will still benefit the community through educational means and help others identify their fossils. Specimens that have sufficient information will be uploaded to iDigBio and GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility) for public accessibility.
If you have already gone through the stepwise process that explains each piece of data please click through to a summary tab where you can enter in your specimen data on a single page.

It’s a trilobite
Thank you a-trilobite
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Hey @sara-andrade ! @nathan-newell might be able to help with narrowing down the taxonomy. I’ve seen similar trilobites to this one in field, but can’t remember the ID.
My best guess is Order Phacopida such as Phacops and Calymene.
Were these found in Portugal?
I don’t know… all records were lost… the collection almost was thrown in the garbage and managed to save it
The rocks are more difficult because I did not find a group like this to help me …
But taking baby steps and with the wonderful help from this group, I hope I can build up information
@sara-adrade That’s quite a story. I’m glad you were able to save the collection and hopefully we can help you with gaining information on your specimens.
@matthew-gramling in 20 years working in an auction house, was the first time I witnessed such abandonment of a parent’s house and a “I don’t care” attitude. The feeling was: if you can’t sell, throw it away…
@sara-andrade That’s a sad story, but I’m glad you were able to save these specimens. I wish they could have had some information regarding their geological provenance, but that can be procured over time. They are really superb specimens, especially this trilobite.
Trilobite
@sara-andrade @matthew-gramling Sorry for the late reply! I think your right, Matthew, that looks like a Phacopid to me, like Phacopid/Eldredgeops. It’s great that you were able to save it, Sara, that’s a really nice specimen!
😍😊
Thank you for the confirmation @nathan-newell !!!
