FOSSIL UPLOAD
First, make sure you have a myFOSSIL account, this is required to upload your fossil information. If you are interested in seeing if your fossil can be used for research purposes, please follow through the following steps. They walk you through the information needed and why it is helpful for other scientists to use it for research questions. Even if the information you have on your fossil is not enough to be used for research purposes it will still benefit the community through educational means and help others identify their fossils. Specimens that have sufficient information will be uploaded to iDigBio and GBIF (Global Biodiversity Information Facility) for public accessibility.
If you have already gone through the stepwise process that explains each piece of data please click through to a summary tab where you can enter in your specimen data on a single page.

Possible oyster or clam?? Not sure, very cool though
I have something similar! I think it’s just the way the quartz formed in time almost like it’s stretched out lol
There are different sections of one material (now white calcite) segmented by the other fossilized material that “nets” through it. Each section is segmented differently, but fairly evenly for that section. Definitely organic looking but with a lot of symmetry with the segments as well. Holes seems to wind throughout.
It looks completely different to all of the oyster and clam shells I’ve found in that area.
Yes, I think @holly-romanek is correct. Looks like a nice sized geode
Definitely not a geode lol
many rocks like quartz can have all sorts of quirky and geometrical patterns that can definitely seem like they were once from a living organism, but alas they’re not. they certainly make spectacular decorative pieces though.
This was found in an oyster bed in the desert. I can tell you it’s a fossil, just not what it is. Maybe it’s some sort of oyster I’m not familiar.
