Bones & BBQ- Texas Through Time Grand Opening

June 22, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

Non-profit Texas Through Time is bringing together a collection of Texas fossils to Hillsboro. They intend to educate and engage the community through Texas’ unique fossil record.

“Museums from all over the world want Texas fossils,” LuJan says, “But not a lot of museums focus on strictly Texas fossils.” Texas Through Time will focus solely on our state’s native fossils. LuJan plans for a Wall of Ammonites (spiral-shaped and now ex-tinct members of the mollusk family), of which Texas has the greatest variety of species.

Matt Phillips has collected fossils on several continents and in most of the United States. He was previously a senior writer and ex-hibit developer at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History.

The grand opening will be Friday, June 22, at 11 a.m. The event will be catered from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. and features the Mike Stanley Band playing from 5 p.m. to 6:30. LuJan says “This museum will remain free as long as public support and donations keep it that way.”
