Educator Development @ The Field Museum: Learning Through Collections (IL)

April 21, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 12:00 pm

Take a deeper dive into teaching and learning with museum collections! This interactive, collaborative session reexamines and expands the observation inference framework for object investigation introduced in Learning Through Collections 101.  We will also practice examining objects through disciplinary lenses, challenging our students to think like scientists, historians, and anthropologists, to name just a few. Get your students excited about the natural world and feel prepared to approach object-based learning with a variety of new strategies designed to pique student curiosity.

The workshops are open to all educators, formal (K-12) or informal.

At a Glance:

  • Workshop is free with pre-registration.
  • Very limited free parking available on a first come first served basis
  • All other guests must park in the Soldier Field North Garage ($22).
  • 2.5 Professional Development Clock Hours offered.
  • All sessions begin at 9:30 a.m. and end at noon.
