    All I have seen anywhere are compressed cones that are part of the matrix and I have a partial cone where the matrix has fell out leaving the original cone or the carbonized piece of the cone. The cone is only partially compressed. There are several segments of the cone showing. Is this rare?

    The rarity would probably depend on where it was found and if significant anatomical features are preserved. Could you include a photo of the fossil and maybe some more information on where it was found?
