This specimen was collected from the Juntura Formation in Eastern Oregon which dates to the Neogene period. This measures 4 1/4 inches long and is 1 1/4 inches at its widest point.

Okay, I will admit, this one has me super stumped! When I first saw it, I thought it was wood.  It looks to me that whatever this is, on the right edge, there is a smaller one overlapping. It goes down to the same type of pod bottom as the larger one.

    Ideas? Thoughts?
