Beautiful, @adam-frey. If you want to upload these on the eMuseum, they have to be individual specimens with an included scale bar and photos of all sides.
-
sure I can do that if other find it valuable…where do I get the official scale
-
Any kind of marked ruler will work, it doesn’t have to be “official”.

4 years, 6 months ago4 years, 6 months agoFrom Blakeley Formation south of Seattle, ocean side. Found among small wood Foss fragments. Thoughts? Appears to have a lighter outer edge. Piece on left was fragmented. #fossil #collection_site

Hi, @Adam-Frey! I looked up the Blakeley formation on Macrostrat: https://macrostrat.org/sift/#/strat_name/7190. You may be able to get some insight on what this is. @Mackenzie-Smith might also have some input.

I’m glad you enjoyed it! I will also recommend PBDB: https://paleobiodb.org/navigator/ and the Digital Atlas of Ancient Life: https://www.digitalatlasofancientlife.org/ as resources if you need help with topics.
P.S. Macrostrat also has a mobile app called Rockd that will use your phone’s location to tell you about the formation you’re standing…[Read more]

I don’t know what it is. Maybe a burrow? I think the formation is Oligocene.

4 years, 6 months ago4 years, 6 months agoAnother what the heck posting. This rock came from the San Jaun Islands. Appears to be a mix of she’ll fossils. Thoughts on how to expose them properly or not worth the effort. Rock won’t split cleanly. #fossil #collection_site #fossil #collection_site

Hi, @Adam-Frey, we have some video tutorials on fossil cleaning available here: https://www.myfossil.org/video-tutorials/

oh cool haven’t found those yet..I’ll get on it

The best tools for this are air scribes (like PaleoAro or MicroJack). They run on compressed air.

4 years, 6 months ago4 years, 6 months agoThis is the sphere I referenced in another post that was lodged in as I have been just taught a conglomerate. Is this just a bubble of matter that formed due to pressure and heat? #collection_site
