    Hi, @Adam-Frey! I looked up the Blakeley formation on Macrostrat: https://macrostrat.org/sift/#/strat_name/7190. You may be able to get some insight on what this is. @Mackenzie-Smith might also have some input.

    @Adam-Frey, scutes are the hardened, thickened bumpy armor pieces on the backs of animals like gators, turtles, and armadillos.

    Beautiful, @adam-frey. If you want to upload these on the eMuseum, they have to be individual specimens with an included scale bar and photos of all sides.

    @adam-frey I don’t know about this formation in particular but it can be from heavy wave action (think certain rocky beaches) or from elevation (large rocks falling down a mountain after a desert flash flood or bottom of a marine canyon).

    Hi @adam-frey. I believe that is the Renton Formation. This part is shale. You may want to check with Washington’s Department of Natural Resources before collecting.
