    Hi all,
    None of the students signed up to shadow in Vert Paleo for iDigTrio. However, we left the shadowing registration open, and may therefore receive late applicants. I will send an update as soon as we have one!

    The schedule remains the same as Jen posted. Students are currently signing up for spaces. We hope to have them all signed up by Friday, to allow communication with shadowers. Therefore we will have exact numbers on Friday, if not Monday. Vert Paleo was listed for up to 4 students, hence there will not be more than 4 students in the chat. The chat is meant to be an informal discussion as Jen described, where students will have the opportunity to ask questions about your journey , relevant to their academic paths.

    Given there were no responses, I asked if it would be possible to give a lesson on an alternative date. The new proposed dates for helping are
    Tuesday Nov 27th 5:10- 8:10 pm
    Wednesday Nov 28th 5:10- 8:10 pm
    Thursday Nov 29th 4:00-7:00 pm

    Please let me know if you would be able to assist and if you need more details?

    Hi all,

    Following up on Erin from Science education request, sent previously and discussed in paleo tutorial meeting:

    “Hey is there any way you think you could come into my methods course and possibly Bruce and explain what kinds of field trips the museum offers for elementary school? I realized I don’t account for informal experiences. Maybe you could do a classification lesson with them using fossils? I just want them to realize they will have options to give their kids various experiences and cost plus it would be cool for you to show them what you do. Bruce might want to do it. You could bring fossils or anything. I’ll give you as much time as you want, an hour or 90 minutes? “

    There are 3 methods classes to be covered :

    Tuesday Nov 13th 5:10- 8:10 pm

    Wednesday Nov 14th 5:10- 8:10 pm

    Thursday Nov 15th 4:00-7:00 pm

    Please respond if you are still available to assist with this?

    Hi all,

    I am sharing this email with the DianneS in EPP, who offer the Education program for schools at the museum.

    I have had a series of conversations about informal education experiences with a current PhD Science Education student at UF, Erin, a student of Rose Pringle. Erin sent me the following message:

    “Hey is there any way you think you could come into my methods course and possibly Bruce and explain what kinds of field trips the museum offers for elementary school? I realized I don’t account for informal experiences. Maybe you could do a classification lesson with them using fossils?     Potential dates are Thursday November 8th or 15th

    Time: 4 to 7 pm (we could do 4 to 5:30pm)

    Audience: Pre-service science teachers

    Are any of you interested and available to assist in coming up with an activity, going to the class etc. ? I wont be at the next Paleo-tutorial so wanted to gage interest and availability so I could give her a general response with a date.

    I think this is a great audience to engage with and it would be nice to develop an inquiry based session on Earth systems, if not for this offering, for future offerings.
