1 year ago1 year agoThat’s a pretty piece! Does anyone know how these ammonite cross sections contain crystallized portions? How do sellers know which fossils to cut and which not to? Sorry to hijack the post lol

1 year ago1 year agoI agree. Concretions are crazy natural occurrences when loose sediment is pressed into form around a nucleus. Therefore if you cut one down the middle you’ll find the original seed!

2 years ago2 years agoIn my part of the country, that could be a bryozoan-crusted crinoid fragment. I’ve found similar specimens before. However, being near an ocean it’s up for debate.
