@benjamin-devries hi there! It is a little difficult to distinguish any telling features from this photo! When photographing a specimen, putting it on a flat, well lit surface (usually in a constrasting color) with a scale (like a ruler or coin) for reference, can help with ID! If you update this post with those features, perhaps we can help you…[Read more]

rock

Probably a nautilus
-
@benjamin-devries in your second image l can now see the possible chamber sections, now l see why it might be a nautilus. the specimen is rather distorted, but you’re right, it is possibly a nautiloid.

l see why it could be one. have you checked if there is any other animal that was found in the area which might be the owner of that bone instead?
@leonardo-miranda The only animals with this kind of bones were allopleuron and the mosasaurus, but the mosa has way flatter and broader fingerbones. But it is a fossil then? Thx!
it certainly looks fossilised due to the texture and colour
for now, your diagnosis might be sufficient. but remember to take it to a museum to get it properly identified, and see if your theory was right.
@leonardo-miranda Thanks! I want to take it to a museum, but can’t because of covid. 🙁
well, we just have to wait. most public places are open now in my country, so that’s good news for me at least…..
