Very interesting!!! Uploading additional pics that show the other side of the specimen my help the community identify it. Scale would help as well.

4 months ago4 months agoThanks for your input @bill-heim. There’s definitely cool stuff there-recently found a possible labyrinthodont tooth in the same location. Need a good resource for bone and tooth ID.

Looks to be a tooth, nice find
-
It’ll probably be from a theropod dinosaur
-
Or it’ll be a crocodile tooth
-
Thanks for your input @jack-parker-tyreman
-
doubt it’s from a theropod. they didn’t have those ridges. probably crocodilian or marine reptile
-
or actually, l think it’s a labyrinthodont
-
yeah, I’m going with that
-
Horn coral, also it looks golden?
-
its a horn coral

-
looks croc
-
or as @leonardo-miranda said a labrinthodont.

Well I don’t know for certain but it has the pros texture if bone… Were are you hunting?
-
porous not pros
-
@smudge-smith Cretaceous. Big Brook, NJ
-
probably Dino then. If marine beds then probably fish
-
Big Brook is a marine deposit. While that doesn’t rule out dinosaur, it also makes it much less likely. More likely is mosasaur or plesiosaur. In fact I have found a plesiosaur tooth there. However, there are no distinctive features on this chunk of bone that indicates what kind of animal it came from.

The matrix and fish look a lot like the Lycoptera sp. fish fossils from Liaoning, China but without locality data, one can’t be sure. This is an interesting locality famous for the feathered dinosaurs and commonly referred to as the Jehol Biota.
Thank you, @patrick-hsieh
Those are beautiful! Found similar fish in Wyoming.
